1,172,934. Liquefied gas storage containers; thermal regenerators. AIR REDUCTION CO. Inc. 10 March, 1967 [14 March, 1966], No. 11404/67. Headings F4K and F4P. A thermal regenerator 10, Fig. 4, contains a plurality of different packing materials 34 to 39 successively arranged in order of melting point lying between -295‹ F. and- 12‹ F. such that fluid entering either end of the regenerator comes into heat exchange in turn with materials of successively higher or lower melting points. At least one material is a fluorochlorohydrocarbon and at least one other is a chlorinated hydrocarbon. Gas e.g. oxygen produced at a steady rate by an air rectification plant 1, Fig. 3, and delivered by a compressor 3 into a consumer line 6 is withdrawn from line 6 during low demand periods and is forced by a compressor 8 through the regenerator 10 and into a pressurized oxyogenic storage tank 14, and during high demand periods vapour is withdrawn from the gas space 15 of the tank 14 and is returned through the regenerator 10 which is thereby cooled and the so-warmed oxygen is forced by a compressor 20 into consumer line 6. Liquid oxygen may also be withdrawn from tank 14, revaporized in regenerator 10 and fed to line 6.
|
