PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a hydrogen-contg. gas for a fuel cell sufficiently reduced in CO concn. by treating the gaseous hydrogen contg. CO2 , CO and O2 with a ruthenium-on-titanium oxide catalyst. CONSTITUTION: Carbon mono-oxide is selectively removed by conversion from a reformed gas obtained by steam-reforming various hydrogen producing fuels (e.g. hydrocarbonic fuel such as natural gas, petroleum gas, naphtha, kerosene and synthetic petroleum, alcoholic fuel such as methanol and mixed alcohol or city gas) by this method. The CO concn. in the reformed gas is appropriately reduced to <=0.1mol per mol hydrogen. CO is selectively removed by this catalyst from even a reformed gas having a high content of CO2 . Further, CO is efficiently removed from gas contg. deg.10% CO2 at a relatively high temp. of 80 to 350 deg.C. The ratio of the deposited ruthenium to titanium oxide is controlled to 0.1 to 10wt.%, and the deposition is conducted at room temp. to 90 deg.C for 1min to 10hr. |
