A plurality of bags, each having an upper (right of Fig. 3) and a lower face, overlie each other to form a chain in the manner shown, the upper and the lower face of each intermediate bag being connected at 20, 21 &c., (or along one or more continuous lines) by adhesive, fusionsealing &c. to a respective lower and upper face of the adjacent bag. In using the bags, the chain is laid on a flat surface (34), the top bag is either opened by hand(s) or inflated (Fig. 4, not shown) by an air stream &c., the article is inserted in the bag and the bag is then disconnected from the chain (by pulling) and discharged. Alternatively the bag may be disconnected from the chain before insertion of the article. The seals 20, 21 &c. or the sealing lines may also join together the two faces of the same bag which when using the bag is opened by inserting hands &c. Clamps (32), hold the underlying bags while the top bag is operated upon. A slip agent or dust covering may be provided on both sides of the bag walls. |
