<p>TITLE LATCH FOR DOOR OPERATING MECHANISM INVENTOR Tebor MITRO A flexible control line attaches a door operating mechanism to a door, that moves in the vertical, from its closed to its open position. Cooperating with the control line of this vertically movable door, is a novel latch which has as its operated element a paw which will constrain the door from travel and hence immobilize the door whenever there is slack in the control line; door free fall is prevented and automatic security latching of the door in its closed position is accomplished. This is achieved by the operative element being a pivoting paw which is biased to indexingly mate into receiving notches placed in the vertical track which defines the door guiding race. When slack exists in the control line the paw pivots because of baising indexes into one of a plurality of receiving notches located in the track to immobilize the door from movement in either upward or downward direction until the control line is brought taut again. When the control line is made taut again the paw pivots out of engagement with the track and door travel is restored.</p> |
