PURPOSE:To control the position of a tilt-type steering apparatus both vertically and horizontally, by spherically-coupling each tube of the divided upper and lower steering columns at the divided position. CONSTITUTION:When composing the tilt mechanism 8, the steering column 1 is divided into two parts in the spindle direction at a suitable part, the upper and lower part 4-1, and 4-2 of the steering shaft are connected together by a common joint 10 at the divided part. And also, to couple spherically the upper and lower part 5-1, and 5-2 of the column tube reciprocally which are divided in the same way, outer and inner case 13 and 14 whose inner surface 13a and outer surface 14a, are both spherically fitted to each 5-1 and 5-2. And the outer case 13 is divided into two parts 13-1, and 13-2 to facilitate the setting to the inner case 14. Furthermore, the ball 19 is interposed between the cases 13 and 14 to control the relative rotation of both cases 13 and 14. |
