<p>The process and device involve the separation of a part of the edge (4a) which was originally connected to the hollow glass (4). The place of separation is heated by means of a gas burner to a temperature above the softening point and the part of the edge (4a) which is to be separated is taken away from the original position to a prescribed axial distance "X" in such a way that a wasp's waist is formed in the glass cross section. The wasp's waist is bombarded by at least one energy ray (20) as the rotation continues until the glass parts are separated through vaporization. The edge of the hollow glass (4) is again heated with a gas burner and caused to melt until the place of separation has the prescribed rounding off and glass.</p> |
