PURPOSE:To enable printing on a medium having a different thickness such as a notebook to be easily performed during a printing operation, by providing a leaf spring which is engaged with a guide shaft so as to provide a gap between it and the other side of the shaft and holds the gap in a predetermined direction. CONSTITUTION:The leaf spring 21 is so provided that the gap between a carriage 20 supporting a printing head 11 thereon and the guide shaft 7, provided for oscillating the carriage 20, is constantly positioned at a predetermined part. With this arrangement, when the thickness of a printing medium becomes large, the thickness causes a tip part of the head 11 to be pushed up, thereby enlarging a gap S, whereas when the thickness becomes small, the tip part of the head 11 is pushed downward, thereby reducing the gap S. Accordingly, the gap S can be freely enlarged or reduced according to the thickness of the printing medium, without need to operate a lever. |
