PURPOSE:To safely operate without clossleak in a break in load by setting gas pressure on fuel electrode side higher than that on oxidizing agent electrode side during load operation. CONSTITUTION:In a molten carbonate fuel cell, gas pressure on fuel electrode (anode) side is made higher than that on oxidizing agent electrode (cathode) side, and the differential pressure between fuel electrode side gas pressure and oxidizing agent electrode side gas pressure is made lower than bubble resistant pressure during load operation of the cell. Even if the fuel electrode side gas pressure is decreased and the oxidation agent electrode side gas pressure is increased when a load is cut off, a transient differential pressure is low compared with the differential pressure generated when a load is cut off in isobaric load operation in which fuel electrode side gas pressure is equal to oxidizing agent side gas pressure. Therefore, generation of crossleak in a break in load can be prevented. |
