PURPOSE:To improve the electrical conductivity of an element by adding rare earths into lanthanum fluoride or cerium fluoride and further adding and incorporating barium fluoride therein. CONSTITUTION:This electrode is constituted of a sintered body which consists essentially of the lanthanum fluoride or cerium fluoride, contains at least one kind of the are earths and is further added and incorporated with the barium fluoride. The electrical conductivity of the element is thus improved by the addition of the rare earths to the ion selective ceramic electrode which responds selectively to the concn. of the fluorine ions in a soln.; further the sinterability of the element is improved as the barium fluoride acts as a sintering assistant. The rare earth element is effective in the range of 0.001-1mol% and the barium fluoride in the range of 0.001-5.0mol%. |
