Device for observing the eye

A description is given of a device for observing the eye and, in particular, the fundus of the eye, comprising a scanning device which has beam-deflecting and beam-projecting elements via which both the illuminating beam of a light source is fed to the section to be observed of the fundus of the eye, and the detection beam reflected on the section to be observed is fed to a detector device from the temporary sequential output signal of which an evaluating and synchronizing unit produces an image of the section to be observed. The device according to the invention is distinguished in that provision is made in the detection beam path of a lens element with a cylindrical effect and of a quadrant detector which is arranged in the middle plane of the two focal planes of the cylindrical lens element, and in that the evaluating and synchronizing unit evaluates the intensity distribution on the quadrant detector.
