Process for precipitating out dissolved water and waste water (effluent) constituents and flocculation of suspended matter in drinking water and service water treatment, in the purification of municipal and industrial waste waters and in the conditioning of process and circulation waters, the resulting flocks being separated off from the water in a manner known per se by iron(III) salts and/or aluminium salts which contain nitrate as anion.
