<p>Algae are grown in a reactor on a substratum with liq. feeding base. The reactor comprises an inclined translucent tube contg. a porous component. Over roughly 240 deg. the latter leaves a gap of 3 to 12mm between itself and the tube wall, and it contains a central passage accommodating a tubular heat-transmitting component. Near the reactor ends the passage is connected to the space between the tube wall and the porous component. The reactor can be mounted parallel to the earth's axis, with the free space between tube and porous component toward the south. The porous component can be of expanded polystyrene foam with a specific gravity between 15 and 40 kg per cm.metre. Alternatively ceramic can be used.</p> |
