PURPOSE: To prevent clogging or flying of ash in the combustion chamber of an incinerator. CONSTITUTION: A refractory filter bed for supporting bulky refuse charge in the chamber is formed of step plates 335, 336 forming a vertical step section, and refractory bricks 353 forming a step section. A plurality of nozzles 347, 350 being coupled with a fan 299 are formed at the vertical part of each step section while extending across the side wall part of the combustion chamber 182 in order to feed air in the horizontal direction.
