PURPOSE: To obtain a method for ideal hard copy of a radiological image. CONSTITUTION: A method for representing radiological images on a recording medium comprising an image recording layer and an opaque reflecting support is provided comprising the steps of: (i) recording the image directly in a digital form or recording the image as an analog image and transforming the analog image into a digital image, (ii) determining a raw image histogram of the digital image (iii) determining from the histogram the width of the diagnostically useful window (iv) dividing the useful window into several smaller window, the width of the smaller windows being adapted to the dynamic range of the recording medium (v) feeding digital image data of each of the smaller windows to an imager (vi) printing the information content of each of the smaller windows onto the image recording medium. |
