PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the corrosion potential of a part exposed to high temperature water by decomposing a noble metal compound in high temperature water to liberate the noble metal ion/atom and then adding an agent for reducing the liberated noble metal to the water. SOLUTION: During operation a nuclear reactor, a noble metal (palladium) compound is injected into cooling water and the palladium is brought into contact with an oxide. At the same time, a reducing agent is injected into the cooling water. The reducing agent includes sodium borohydride, sodium diphosphate, hydrazine, formaldehyde and tin (II) salt. Nobel metal compound is decomposed through action ofγ-rays and neutron rays under high temperature difference in reactor and the palladium ion/atom is liberated and settled on the surface of oxide. The compound containing palladium includes acetyl acetone palladium, acetyl acetone platinum and palladium nitrate.
