The vacuum switching reed includes a cylindrical, isolating container (1), a rigid end plate (2), and a movable end plate (3), which are accordingly mounted at both ends of the isolating container for sealing the ends. A firm rod electrode (4) is provided, in which a section is formed with small diameter (4a) on an axial end of the section with large diameter (4b). The section with small diameter is led through a centred hole of the firm end plate. A graduated area between the section with small diameter and the section with large diameter is connected airtight through soldering around the centred hole of the firm end plate. A fixed electrode (7) is fastened at the other axial end, and positioned in the isolating container. A movable rod electrode (5) which has a movable electrode (8) fastened to its one end, is fastened airtight through folded elements (6) to the movable end plate, so that it is positioned in the isolating container and is moves the movable end plate towards or away from the fixed electrode. A disk-shaped strengthening element (13, 20) has a centred hole with a larger diameter than that of the fixed end plate, and is placed at the outer wall surface of the fixed end plate, so that the centred holes are arranged coaxial with respect to each other, and are connected through soldering with the outer wall surface of the firm end plate.
