Shopping or luggage trolley forfeit with key function

The forfeit (9) has a key function for a forfeit lock (4) which is fastened to a shopping- or luggage trolley. The forfeit remains in the lock after the insertion, until a shopping- or luggage trolley is connected again through a coupling element (8) to another forfeit lock. A transmitting unit (10) is fastened in or to the forfeit. The forfeit is preferably a forfeit card formed from plastic, and has approximately the measurements of a credit card. The transmitting unit emits signals at or after the insertion in the forfeit lock, which unlock the forfeit lock. The signals are stored in a memory (7) on the card and can be changed using an external transmitter (13).
