PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal dye transfer assemblage containing an effective dye precursor giving a higher transferred dye density. SOLUTION: A thermal dye transfer assemblage comprises (a) a dye-donor element comprising a support having thereon a dye layer containing a dye dispersed in a polymeric binder, the dye comprising an N-acrylimidoethylidene- benz[c,d]indole dye precursor and (b) a dye-receiving element comprising a support having thereon a polymeric dye image-receiving layer. In the thermal dye transfer assemblage, the dye-receiving element. with regard to the dye-donor element, a dye layer is laid to contact the dye image-receiving layer, and the dye image-receiving layer contains an organic acid which can convert the dye precursor into a cationic magenta anilinovinyl-benz[c,d]indolium dye. |
