PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of part items around an engine case by installing a fixing coil of a generator in an oil seal housing fixed to the engine case upper surface of an outboard motor, and holding a starter motor by extending the oil seal housing in the horizontal direction. SOLUTION: The engine 2 of an outboard motor has an engine case 15, and a fixing coil 34 is fixed to an upper surface of this engine case 15. In this case, the fixing coil 34 is arranged so as to enter the inner peripheral recessed part of a flywheel 31, and a generator 35 is composed of these flywheel 31, magnet 34 and fixing coil 34. A starter motor 37 is arranged on a peripheral surface, for example, a front face of this engine case 15. This starter motor 37 is arranged in the vertical direction so that its main shaft 38 becomes parallel to a crankshaft 3, and at starting time, a pinion gear 39 installed on the main shaft 38 slides upward, and meshes with a ring gear 32 of the flywheel 31, and starts the engine 2. |
