摘要 FIELD: production of sulfur from hydrogen sulfide. SUBSTANCE: method consists in feeding of acid gas and burning of it with air in reactor burners with formation of rotating vortices of combustion products at the inlet to the reaction chamber directed towards one another in the axis perpendicular to the reactor axis. Rotation of vortices is directed to different sides. The diameter of these vortices at the inlet to the reaction chamber makes up 0.35 to 0.45 of the reactor diameter, and the relation between the average rotational speed of acid gas and air entering the burners and their axial speed is within 4 to 6; the average period of stay of combustion products in the reaction chamber is determined from formula: tau=0.4+a, where "a" depends on the concentration of hydrogen sulfide in acid gas and is prescribed within the following intervals: Concentration of hydrogen sulfide, % Value of - "a", s<BR> 70-95 - 0.15<BR> 50-60 - 0.25<BR> 40-50 - 0.60<BR> 35-40 - 0.70.
