Anti-inflammatory analgesics which contain as the active ingredient ascorbic acid derivatives represented by general formula (I) or salts thereof, exhibit favorable anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and are excellent in storage stability, safety to the skin and the percutaneous absorbability of the active ingredient wherein at least one of R1, R2 and R3 represents linear or branched C1-20 alkyl, alkylcarbonylmethyl, alkoxycarbonylmethyl, allylalkyl, acyl, sulfate or phosphate while the remainder represent hydrogen.
