PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the level difference of light quantity at a joint, even for the case of division scanning by plural laser beams. SOLUTION: A division optical scanner 10 is equipped with laser beam source parts 12A and 12B, which are respectively connected to a control part 14. The laser beam 16A, emitted from the laser beam source part 12A, is made incident on the reflection surface of a polygon mirror 18 and deflected toward a surface to be scanned 20 by the mirror 18 so as to scan the surface 20 from P0 to P2. The laser beam 16B scans the surface 20 from P1 to P3. The control part 14 measures the light quantity of the laser beam 16A and that of the laser beam 16B at the positions of P1 and P2 which are the boundary of an overlap region, and calculates a cross point where the light quantity of the laser beam 16A and that of the laser beam 16B are coincident within the overlap region, then the calculated cross point is set as a division position.
