MACHINE TOOL USING A DOUBLE-SIDE LINEAR MOTOR

PURPOSE: A machine tool using a double-side linear motor is provided to reduce the load and friction on a rail and a carriage and to prolong the life of a rail and a carriage by using a double-side linear motor, whose magnetic sucking force is vanished by itself, as a driving means of a transfer section. CONSTITUTION: A machine tool (100) using a double-side linear motor comprises; a bed (102); a table (106) installed on a bed (102) to support a work piece (104); a spindle (110) rotating a cutting tool (108) to process a work piece (104); a frame (112) fixed on a bed (102); a X-axis slide (118) and a Y-axis slide (124) transferred to the X-axis and Y-axis by a primary double-side linear motor (132) and a secondary double-side linear motor (134) respectively; a ram (130) transferred to the Z-axis by a third double-side linear motor (136) to rotate a spindle (110); a counter balancing and a cylinder for an emergency stop (138) which prevent a collision between the slides if the power supply is cut off.
