PURPOSE: A device for removing flickering of a screen in an audio/video system and a method thereof are provided to remove the flickering of a screen in case of turning on/off the back light of LCD. CONSTITUTION: A device for removing flickering of a screen in an audio/video system and a method therefor includes a micro computer(20), a portion(30) for controlling a system, a portion(40) for driving LCD and a video switch and a portion(60) for controlling a mute. The micro computer(20) generates the signal for controlling the power and the signal for controlling the mute and controls the whole operation of the video system. The portion(30) for controlling the system generates the signal for controlling on/off of the system, which decides yes or no of driving the system. The portion(40) for driving LCD and the video switch unites the signal for controlling the power output from the micro computer(20) with the signal for controlling on/off of the system output from the portion(30) for controlling the system and generates the back light of LCD and the signal for controlling the video switch. The portion(60) for controlling the mute adds the signal for controlling the video switch output from the portion(40) for driving LCD and the video switch and the signal for controlling the mute output from the micro computer(20) logically and generates the signal for controlling the mute with the result value.
