PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system that can prevent polarized wave state of an optical fiber transmission line from stabilizing in a state of deteriorating its transmission characteristic. SOLUTION: A signal light 12, outputted from an optical transmitter 10, is given to an optical fiber 16 via a polarized wave controller 14. The signal light 12 is propagated via the optical fiber 16 and given to an optical receiver 18. The polarized wave controller 12 consists of a quarter-wave plate 20, a half-wave plate 22, motors 24, 26 that respectively drive the quarter-wave plate 20 and the half-wave plate 22 around the axes in a direction in parallel with the propagation direction of the signal light 12. The motors 24, 26 continuously or intermittently drive the quarter-wave plate 20 and the half-wave plate 22. |
