<p>A hydrogen purification apparatus for use in reducing carbon monoxide in a hydrogen gas, wherein a first catalyst selected from among Pt, Pd, Ru and Rh and a second catalyst selected from among Pd, Ru, Rh and Ni are mixed or combined in one piece and the resultant mixture or combination is used in a clarification catalyst element, wherein an alumina or a zeolite ion-exchanged with a first period transition metal is used as a heat-resistant catalyst carrier substrate of the clarification catalyst element in a form of pellets or a honeycomb structure, wherein the apparatus has two steps of clarification sections each containing the clarification catalyst element, and wherein the feed of an oxidizing gas is controlled through the detection of the temperature values of the clarification catalyst elements and the hydrogen gas. The apparatus allows the achievement of satisfactory clarification catalyst activity in a wide range of temperature, the stable reduction of a carbon monoxide concentration also in changes of load, and the suppression of consumption of hydrogen by oxidation.</p> |
