PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main rope stretching device capable of stretching a main rope with high tension. SOLUTION: A hook 21 mounted on one end part of the main rope 20 and a hook 3 connected with a main rope tensioner 1 are respectively engaged with a pair of engagement objects A<SB>1</SB>, A<SB>2</SB>, the other end part of the main rope 20 is folded back along an outer periphery of a rope reversing guide mounted on the main rope tensioner 1, the main rope 20 is tensed by pulling a fold back-side end part, and a locking claw mounted on the main rope tensioner 1 is engaged with the main rope 20 to keep the main rope 20 in a tensed state. A fastening tool 30 is mounted on the main rope tensioner 1, and the tensile force is applied to the fold back-side end part of the main rope 20 by operating the fastening tool 30 to increase the tension of the main rope 20.
