PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiprocessor system having a reduced hardware amount necessary for mounting, and having a directory not requiring a reset of information by software. SOLUTION: In a main storage sharing type multiprocessor, a plurality of nodes 100-400 each having a main storage device 140 storing data, a cache 120 holding a copy of the data inside the main storage device, and a CPU 110 accessing the main storage device or the cache and processing the data are connected, respectively. In each the node, a directory bit showing that the copy of a part of a corresponding memory group is probably present inside the cache of another node is assigned in each the memory group wherein a part of an address including a cache index portion of a memory present inside the main storage device of the node itself accords.
