The arrangement has a menu visual display circuit for generating video signals (Rm,Gm,Bm) and a switching signal (Ym). A pointer visual display circuit selects indicated menu objects to generate video signals (Rp,Gp,Bp) and a switching signal (Yp). The video signals of the menu visual display circuit, the pointer visual display circuit and the switching signals are inputted to a pointer or menu selection circuit. The pointer or menu selection circuit selects the output of the pointer visual display circuit and then selectively outputs the signal from the menu visual display circuit, if no output from the pointer visual display circuit is present.
