PURPOSE: To obtain a color deepening agent effective for deepening the color and imparting scratch resistance by polymerizing an ethylenic unsaturated monomer under specific condition and applying the obtained aqueous dispersion of the polymer to a dyed material. CONSTITUTION: An ethylenic unsaturated monomer such as methyl methacrylate and a crosslinkable ethylenic unsaturated monomer such as Nmethylol (meth) acrylamide are polymerized in the presence of a cationic surfactant such as an alkyl quaternary ammonium chloride expressed by the formula (R1 , R2 , R3 and R4 are each a 1-22C alkyl; X is a univalent anion such as Cl, Br, I, CH3 SO4 , C2 H5 SO4 , NO3 , ClO4 or HOCH2 COO) to obtain an aqueous dispersion containing a polymer A having a refractive index of <=1.50 and glass transition temperature of >110 deg.C and a polymer B having a refractive index of <=1.50 and a glass transition temperature of <20 deg.C at a weight ratio (A/B) of 1/9 to 9/1. The objective color deepening agent is produced by adding an aminosilicone emulsion and a monomethyl phosphoric acid ester to the aqueous dispersion. A dyed polyester cloth is padded with the color-deepening agent solution and dried and heat-treated to improve the color deepness. |
