PURPOSE: To utilize the energy of a spiral spring for supporting the pedal traveling on the up hill by providing the spiral spring on a bicycle, and winding the spiral spring through the rotation of wheels when the bicycle is traveling on the down hill or a flat ground. CONSTITUTION: A large disk-shaped spiral spring 1 is mounted on a bicycle body in a well-balanced manner inside of a wheel 2 or parallel to its side which is the best place to mount the spiral spring. When the spiral spring is mounted on each side, inner cylindrical cores 9 of two spiral springs are connected to each other by a spiral spring axle 7 which is pierced in a wheel cylindrical shaft 6, a clutch 5 and a gear 4 (transmission) are placed in series between the cores and the wheel cylindrical shaft 6. By appropriately operating the clutch 5 and the gear 4, the spiral spring 1 is wound when the bicycle is traveling on the down hill or on the flat ground, and is unwound when it is traveling on the up hill to support the pedal traveling by turning the wheel 2. |
