A platform-based communication access method is provided to present a platform-based wireless LAN service, which can be inexpensively used like a private wireless LAN and which can be freely used like a public wireless LAN without any special registration procedure, for one or more wireless ATs(Access Terminals) located within a hot spot. A wireless AT having a short range wireless communication unit accesses a hot spot providing system and uses a wireless LAN service through a wireless AP(Access Point)(1700). The wireless AT periodically confirms whether a radio link with the wireless AP is disconnected. If the disconnection of the radio link is confirmed(1705), the wireless AT closes platform-based wireless LAN communication(1710). In this case, the wireless AT closes one or more terminal programs and eliminates a dynamically allocated IP address. If the wireless AT is connected to a wideband communication network, the wireless AT activates a wideband communication function(1715).
