A motor housing for a vacuum cleaner is provided to minimize loss of a cross sectional area of an air passage by forming an excessive insertion preventing unit on an inner peripheral surface of an impeller cover to prevent the impeller cover from being excessively inserted in a lower part of a housing. A motor housing for a vacuum cleaner includes a housing, a guide vane, an impeller, and an impeller cover(40). The housing surrounds a motor and has an outlet at a rear. The guide vane is mounted at a front of the housing to guide sucked air to the outlet. The impeller is arranged adjacent to a front of the guide vane and shaft-coupled with the motor. The impeller cover covers the impeller and the guide vane and is coupled with the housing. The guide vane does not have a boss to prevent the impeller cover from being excessively inserted into the housing. The impeller cover has an excessive insertion preventing unit to prevent the impeller cover from being excessively inserted into the housing and minimize loss of a cross sectional area of an air passage.
