PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous diagnosis determining that a temperature sensor is failed by a simple constitution, in the temperature sensor used for measurement of the temperature of exhaust of an engine or the like. SOLUTION: The determination whether or not the temperature sensor is failed is performed by the fact whether or not this is positioned at the outside of predetermined area Esll-Eslh defined as a normal area based the temperature (sensor output value E1) obtained an the output from the temperature sensor. A temperature detection means for diagnosis allowance determination is provided other than the temperature sensor, i.e., the diagnosis object, thereby, the temperature Texh2 coorrelated to the output from the temperature sensor is detected, and based on the detected temperature Texh2, the determination whether or not the temperature sensor is failed is allowed or forbidden.
