STARCH-BASED POLYMER PARTICLE EMULSION AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

The present invention provides a starch-based polymer particle emulsion containing a starch-based polymer particle as a dispersoid and water as a dispersion medium. The dispersoid starch-based polymer particle has a core-shell structure, wherein the core is formed by the polymerization of the starch hydrolyzate and a core monomer mixture, and the shell is formed on the core by the polymerization of a shell monomer mixture. According to the present invention, the emulsion comprising the starch-based polymer particle has no precipitation of starch-based polymer particles and has excellent compatibility with a petroleum-based resin, which is used commercially as a binder of ink. Moreover, although a part or whole of the commercial petroleum-based binder resin in an ink composition is replaced with the starch-based polymer particle emulsion of the present invention, a similar or the same level of pigment dispersibility and color strength of the commercial petroleum-based binder resin are obtained.
