PURPOSE:To improve photoprinting accuracy and make the life of a thermal head longer by bringing an ink ribbon into contact with the thermal head in the state of removing dust and the like adhered to the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning pad 2 is mounted on a cover 1 of a thermal head driving section integrated with a thermal head 3. Dust and the like adhered to the surface of an ink ribbon 5 fed from an ink ribbon feeding roll 6 are removed by the cleaning pad 2. The ink ribbon 5 and the thermal head 3 from which said dust and the like are removed are brought into contact together and photoprinting is carried out. Photoprinting accuracy is improved and the life of the thermal head 3 is made longer by said arrangement.
