A solid catalyst component comprising: a zeolite selected from the group consisting of zeolite beta, zeolite L, TEA-mordenite, MCM-22, MCM-36, MCM-39, MCM-41, MCM-48, PSH-3, ZSM-5, Breck-6, ZSM-11, ZSM-12, ZSM-22, ZSM-23, ZSM-35, ZSM-48, SSZ-32, and combinations thereof, a modifier selected from the group consisting of (a) phosphorous, (b) phosphorous and boron, (c) an additive selected from the group consisting of gallium, zinc, zirconium, niobium, tantalum, and combinations thereof, and (d) combinations thereof, and at least one noble metal selected from the group consisting of silver, gold, rhodium, iridium, and combinations thereof alloyed with at least one transition metal,wherein the noble metal and the transition metal comprise between about 0.01% and about 2.0% by weight of the solid catalyst component.
