1. A transmitter, comprising:
a first antenna and a first transformer associated with the first antenna; and a second antenna and a second transformer associated with the second antenna, the first transformer and the second transformer being configured to receive a same signal and phase shift the signal to produce a plurality of phase shifted signals, each of the phase shifted signals having a phase that changes over time, the first antenna and the second antenna being spaced apart by a desired column distance and mapped to a first logical antenna port, the first antenna and the second antenna being configured to send the plurality of phase shifted signals such that (i) a first resultant beam formed signal from the first logical antenna port has a transmit power equal to a sum of a transmit power of the first antenna and a transmit power of the second antenna, and (ii) the first resultant beam formed signal has a same time averaged beam shape as a beam formed signal from one of the first antenna and the second antenna. |
