A heat sealable adhesive composition comprises, by weight .Petroleum wax ..... 60-99% .Polymeric additives... 40-1% wherein said polymeric additives comprise: 80-99% of an ethylene copolymer containing 65-85% copolymerized ethylene and 35-15% of copolymerized vinyl acetate, ethyl acrylate, or methyl methacrylate, said copolymer having a melt index of 0.1-500, and 20-1% of polypropylene having a melt index of 0.01-100 or polyisobutylene having a molecular weight of 1000-250,000. The polyisobutylene may contain small quantities of copolymerized styrene, butene-1 or butene-2, or it may be a butyl rubber comprising polyisobutylene plus a small amount of isoprene.
