Cellulose textile materials are dyed by impregnating with a dye liquor containing a a water-soluble thiosulphonic acid derivative or water-soluble salt thereof, urea and alkali, subsequently drying, heat-treating the impregnated material, fixing the sulphur dye in the usual manner and then finishing. The heat treatment may be effected with steam or dry heat. The sulphur dyes may be fixed by reduction with an alkali metal sulphide or sulphydried followed by reoxidation. Examples of dyeing cotton fabrics are given. |
