[Also in Division H2] A runway lamp comprises a base 11 adapted to be placed in a hole in the ground, a locating ring 12 which can be adjustably secured to a central upstanding portion 17 of the base by means of bolts (25) which pass through slots 27 in the ring and engage holes 26 in the portion 17, a domed cover 14 which seats on a step 67 inside the base and can be secured by capture bolts 73 arranged to engage sockets 75 on the locating ring, and a lamp assembly 13 which is maintained in the correct position on the base by the retaining ring and extends through a central opening 70 in the cover. The lamp assembly (Figs. 2-4, not shown) comprises a bulb (37), two flat colour filters (34) on opposite sides of the bulb, two lenses (33) in front of the respective filters, and a circular window (63) which is clamped in a watertight manner between a lid (61) and a body (28), the light beams emitted by the lenses being arranged to pass through recessed portions 72 of the cover 14. The bulb (37) is mounted in a socket assembly (see Division H2) which can be pivoted out of its operative position when it is necessary to change the bulb, and the assembly includes a mounting for a cut-out (53). In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown) the locating ring (12) is integral with the base (11). |
