<p>A tubular right-angle bend has its horizontal limb passing by a packed gland through wall of settling tank. Rotation about this horizontal axis swings the other limb (initially vertically upwards) inside the tank to adjust its end to precise level required to decant supernatant liquid without disturbing settled precipitate. Adjustment is by using a spanner, particularly through a crank. Use is esp. for decanting fruit juice or wire from yeast and other solids.</p> |
