A bi-stable fluidic switch has its power jet supplied with air at such a rate that the fluid flow is maintained out of one or other of the output ducts but can be selectively increased. In a first embodiment, Fig. 1, the switch 11 is supplied with air from reservoir 40 via throttled duct 43. If the jet is currently directed to output 14 the flow is insufficient to expand bellows 20, the air venting at 22. When a valve 45 is opened the power jet flow is increased, the bellows now expanding to close electrical contacts 24. As applied to a parallel-serial converter, Fig. 2 (not shown), the parallel-bit output of a tape reader (90) is fed to the control inputs of a corresponding number of fluid switches (51) whose outputs are coupled to a single bellows (61) operating electrical contacts (63). Air is supplied continuously to the power jets at a low flow rate and when the data is to be serialized a further supply of power jet air is connected to each switch (51) in turn via a rotary distributer (73). In a modification, Fig. 3, the switch is asymmetric. The power jet air flow is increased by rapidly closing bellows 108. Subsequent rapid opening of the bellows reduces the air supply to the jet sufficiently to ensure that the jet is directed to output 101 after the bellows have come to rest.</p>
