<p>Oblique or arch-shaped nozzles effect a rapid and continuous cooling in the secondary spray zone below the mould. A rectangular surface area on the billet is cooled as it is withdrawn, but the amount of cooling is reduced from centre to edge. The nozzles are mounted on an adjustable common main positioned centrally and parallel to the billet length, but pairs of nozzles may be mounted together either longitudinally or transversely. Cooling of the support rolls may also be carried out, and the nozzles may be either stationary or oscillating to increase the coverage.</p> |
