CASTOLIN S A 1 Dec 1970 [2 Dec 1969] 57020/70 Heading C7F A wear resistant facing is applied to a surface by powder spraying a layer of a self fluxing oxidation resistant alloy thereon and then applying a heterogeneous wear resistant facing material consisting of a Ni, Co, Cr, Fe or Cu alloy, containing sufficient of one or more of B, Si, Li, Na and P to provide deoxidation characteristics, in which is dispersed particles 0.5-10 mm in size of a metal compound which is relatively hard with respect to the matrix. The initial layer may be melted before or during the application of the second layer and the compound may be a baride, carbide, nitride silicide or oxide of Al, Ti, Zr, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W or V (e.g. in an amount of 20-80%.) |
