A synthetic modified latex compn. contains 10-80% of an organic solvent, 20-50% of a biocide and 5-40% of a pigment dispersion. (percentages w.r.t. wt. of solids in the latex). The latex is pref. vinyl (co)polymer, styrene-butadiene latex, acrylic latex or vinylacrylic latex. A (chlorinated) aromatic hydrocarbon, ester or ketone is a pref. solvent. Latex compns. contg. such solvents have improved water-repellency. Used in mfe. of paints, coatings, adhesives, insulating materials. |
