[Also in Division B8] A chlorobutyl rubber composition is used to coat both sides of a polyester fabric strips and then cured when forming a container, (see Division B8). The polyester, in general, is a condensation product of the lower alkene glycols or their mixtures or 1, 4-cyclohexane dimethanol with the C 2 -C 10 dicarboxylic acids or their anhydrides. The polyester fabric may be a polyethylene terephthalate type 9 ounce square woven 450 Ibs/sq. in fabric. The fabric is coated with a tie gum, e.g. a mixture of a halogenated poly-2, 3-dichlorobutadiene-1, 3, a phosgenated product of the acid rearrangement of anilene and formaldehyde and a solvent, e.g. toluene. The tie gum may be an organic triisocyanate or higher. A typical chlorobutyl rubber composition comprises, in parts by weight, chlorobutyl rubber (80), butyl rubber (20), magnesia (2), zinc oxide (3) tetra methyl thiuram disulphide (1), benzothiazyl disulphide (2), stearic acid (1), amberol ST- 137-X resin (5), tert-butyl phenol (1) process oil (5), tributoxyethyl phosphate (2), carbon black, high abrasion furnace (50). For spread coating this composition is dispersed in a rubber solvent, e.g. toluene, hexane, or naphtha. |
