<p>Vinyl chloride or mixtures with other vinylic monomers are polymerised in media which are non-solvents for the polymer, using as catalyst mixtures of acetyl-cyclohexyl-sulphonyl peroxide, and one or more cpds. chosen from terbutyl peroxy pivalate, diisopropylperoxydicarbonate, di-2-ethyl-hexyl peroxydicarbonate, alpha,alpha'-azobis-2,4-dimethyl-valeronitrile. The combined catalysts ensure that the reaction rate remains constant during the polyumn. The amount of acetyl-cyclohexy sulphonyl peroxide may be between 0.001 and 0.1 p.b.w. and the amount of the peroxide co-catalyst may be at most 1% of the monomers.</p> |
