[Also in Division H2] A method of operating a cell having a magnesium anode comprises short circuiting the cell immediately prior to its connection to a load in order that the cell may rapidly reach its rated output potential. The cell may be a magnesium-manganese dioxide; magnesiummercuric oxide or a magnesium gas cell and the electrolyte may be an alkali halide. Various examples are quoted in the Specification setting out the compositions of the anode. |
