A laser beam-welded chassis component for the absorption of a crash loading has at least one seam weld running in the loading direction. The load-side end (4) of the seam is thickened, widened or bent back. The other end may be similarly treated. The seam is a stitched seam and the load-side ends of the stitches, or at least some of them, are also thickened, widened or bent back. A resistance welding point may be a thickened point. The widening is done in a meandering fashion.
